How to Create a Blog from Scratch!

Yesterday I got connected with someone on LinkedIn and the person was having a Blogspot blog and he was wondering why his blog is not ranking on Google? I told him the probable reasons, some of them are those only which I already mentioned in one of my old post on BNLF Meet and listed in Free Blogs Vs. Self-Hosted Blogs section. Though the reason why I am saying this story over here, is many people who start a blog for themselves, later on, they realized the fact that they made a mistake. This might demoralize them, and so I planned to complete this blog post of mine on How to Create a Blog from Scratch so that those who want to start a new blog or want to develop a blog for themselves will get the idea of how to do it. Here we go:

Every second person who visits my blog or connects with me on Social Networking sites asks the same questions and it is how to create a blog from scratch? Let us find the answer through this blog post of mine on how to create or develop a blog from scratch.

I have not written a blog for so many months. I was feeling too low that I was not getting the time to write a blog. It is a stress-booster thing for me to write something new, or share some new things with my blog readers, but unfortunately, for many months I was not getting the time to write a single Blog.

It was not that I was not trying to write something new, I started writing a few new blogs as well, but all the time I started writing something came in between and I had to stop. I do have a few (around 10-15) half-written blogs with me, though I am not getting that courage to complete them.

Okay, let’s not talk about so much on the negativity, which I always hate to, and this is one of the best reasons why I tell everyone to become a Blogger if you start blogging you will realize that you are a positive person now. So, it is my blogs only which converts me into a positive person than the negative one. Some of my friends who are reading this blog will surely support it.

How to Create a Blog from Scratch?

So turning back towards the main topic about how to create a blog from scratch, normally you can have different types of blog and it includes free as well as paid blogs; paid in the sense, that to develop the same you are buying somethings to make it proper. Let me give you an idea about the free blogs first:

1. Blogger Blogs

These are one of the basic blogs and I think all the premiere bloggers of today have used it in the past for sure. I suggest every newbie start their blogging trip with the help of Blogger or BlogSpot blogs only. There are a few reasons why I ask newbies to start their blogging journey with the help of Blogger blogs. One being, it is quite simple, free and easy to set-up.

So if you are also trying to develop a new blog, or you are also trying to establish yourself as a blogger, I would suggest you go ahead to Google and create a Google account and then start a new BlogSpot blog with the help of Blogger.

2. Tumblr Blogs

The second platform to create a blog from scratch is Tumblr. Honestly, it is considered to be a micro-blogging platform. It allows it’s users to create blogs and post multimedia content on their blogs.

Honestly, I never tried creating a blog on Tumblr, but if I see the person intends that I want to write short-short posts and want to put different types of multimedia features into it, then I suggest the person use it. In it, you can connect with different bloggers blog and re-blog or re-post the content.

As I already said that it is more like a micro-blogging platform, so it is considered as the Twitter of the Blogging world.

3. Medium Blogs

Many of the serious bloggers are using Medium these days to share their blogs. Honestly, during the last few years, Medium’s reach has extended to a huge level.

Medium is like an advanced tool, though anyone with very less technical knowledge too can manage a blog with the help of Medium. To be honest, you will find a high level of intellectuals managing their blogs on Medium only.

4. Wix Blogs

Wix is yet another powerful tool to develop a stunning blog, though if you want to customize a Wix blog, you need not know so many technical things to do so. But if you want to use some advanced features like setting up your domain name then for sure you do need to know a bit advanced technical things to do so.

Wix is though a user-friendly and very powerful tool to develop a new blog, though if you ask my opinion I would not suggest anyone create their first blog on any of these tools.

Why so?

You may ask me this question, though my response is none of the above-mentioned blogs is my preferred platform to start your new and especially first blog is. The reason being, in my opinion, WordPress is the best blogging tool and I recommend it for starting your first blog.

5. WordPress Blogs

So when it comes to WordPress, you will get two versions of it as well. One is the free one, which will give you the option of creating a blog just like Blogger. Though with the help of this you will get a sub-domain of wordpress.com and it will be a free blog.

On the other hand, there is another option that comes through wordpress.org and it is to set-up your self-hosted blog and they will provide you the software to develop it. So what are the things which you need to have a self-hosted blog? A domain name, and web hosting. With the help of the software of WordPress from wordpress.org and with the combination of these two things, you can always develop a powerful yet simply managed blog and that too quite easily.

So to create a blog from scratch, here are the different ways:

• Blogger Blog: You just need to sign up with Google account, if you don’t have a Google accounts, or you can simply login at www.blogger.com and create a unique and beautiful blog by just login into it with your Google account. After login, you will get the option to create a new blog and thus you can create your Blogger blog for free. Later on, if you want to use a domain name for your blogger blog, you can follow the following steps and you can get rid of the blogspot.com sub-domain structure for your blog.
• Tumblr Blog: So to create a Tumblr blog, it is more or less similar to Blogger, just visit www.tumblr.com and sign up with them and you can be able to create a blog.
• Medium Blogs: You can grab a Medium blog at www.medium.com
• Wix Blog: Similar to all the above blogs you can get a Wix blog, which is more like a complete Website from www.wix.com
• WordPress Blog: So as I mentioned above, to get a WordPress blog you can either visit www.wordpress.com or www.wordpress.org for a self-hosted blog.
