To be very honest, if you don’t know the basics of SEO or Search Engine Optimization, I am sure you too will think that SEO is a very simple task. Believe me, it is not an easy task. To rank at the top position on Google is such a difficult task. You need to take care of many Ranking Factors (around thousands) to rank well in Google. Proper Keyword Research

Keyword Research is a very important aspect of doing SEO in 2018 and coming days. Finding keywords on which you can rank easily is not an easy task. These days if you are trying to rank your website, you should focus on long-tail keywords to get good results. Dentists marketing, for example, can benefit from targeting specific phrases like “best dentist for kids in [city]” or “affordable dental implants near me.

Understand the fact that for each page on your website, you need to come up with a Primary Keyword and a few related keywords, like for this blog post I chose “How to Do SEO” as the main keyword and “How to Rank in Google” and “How to Do SEO in 2018”, etc. as related keywords. Similarly, for all the pages on your website, you need to come up with Long-tail Primary keywords in which you can rank well and that too soon.

Remember while selecting keywords for non-business pages, you can go ahead with the keywords like how to and other questions. It will help you to rank easily in Google.

Keyword in URL

Next step is to develop the page of your website and to do so, you need to bring your primary keywords in the URL of the page. You need to create a good URL for your new page. Also, you need the new page to be easily accessible from your website. If it is a blog, it will automatically be at the top of your blog section, but if it is not a blog then you must need to link that at a prominent place so that the search engine will easily be able to reach there.

Authoritative Content

We always heard the term “Content is the King” though when it comes about implementation we normally ignore it. Many a time we just develop a bit of content to develop a page. Call it as taking inspiration from others, but before creating the content, you just need to do the Google search for the keywords which you want to target and go through the results and see what information they are providing. Remember to rank well in Google, you need to provide exactly the same which your visitors are looking for. If you are targeting a keyword, then you should know about the things which Google is looking for related to that particular keyword.

Remember, this is the reason why I said to select keywords like How to or other questions as our primary keyword. It is always easy to provide a response or answer to a problem if you know the subject matter thoroughly. So to provide relevant content to your visitors becomes easy if you know the subject matter.

Focus on Title and Meta Description

So, you are now ready with the content, URL, and other things, it is now time to do the actual On-Page Optimization. Focus on a compelling Title Tag and an informative Meta Description. Remember these two things are going to display in Google Search Engine Result Page, and a compelling title and Meta Description will force the visitors to click on your search results. Thus a higher CTR is possible with the proper use of Title and Meta Description.

Focusing on Header Tags in Body

Once Meta Tags are sorted out, now it is the time to put the focus on primary and related keywords. Let us put them in the form of header tags in the body of the content. Remember there should not be more than 1 H1 tags into your page, and it should always contain the primary keywords of your choice.

Similarly, you need to highlight the related keywords and a combination of them in the body of the content with other header tags like H2, H3, H4, etc.

Don’t Forget Images

I insisted on it several times. We should never forget the fact that search engines will not read images, they need the Alternative Tag to understand what it is, else they will simply ignore. So never left behind a single image on your new web page with Alt Tag. Play with Alt Tags intelligently.

Check for Plagiarism

The most important and crucial things which you need to take care while doing SEO is to take care of the plagiarism of the web page. After publishing the content, the first thing you need to check if it is not showing as a Duplicate Content. Take help of any Plagiarism tools like Copyscape and you should be able to judge it by yourself.

All these points are enough to rank well in Google, but these won’t guarantee a ranking in Google Search unless you won’t do these two things. First one is to Share the link into Social Media, let people discuss it and share them so that Google should understand that these are useful for visitors, and second is to let the web page load properly.

It is your prime duty to take care of the loading time of the page if you cannot then it will surely impact its chances of reaching to the top of Google Search. You should optimize the page speed for any page of your website so that it should load in a few seconds only.
