Is WordPress SEO Optimized?
One of the most common questions which I encountered since I started blogging is about WordPress being SEO Optimized or SEO Friendly? People often ask me is WordPress SEO Optimized or SEO Friendly?
And here is my response in the form of this blog post explaining why to think about WordPress over any other blogging platform and if it is SEO friendly or SEO optimized enough so that bloggers should choose it for blogging purposes?
If I ask you this question then what will be your response about it? I hope it will be yes.
But what about it:
Here comes the trick. If you ask me, I will say No to it. WordPress or even any other Content Management System (CMS) or any other blogging platforms are not at all SEO Optimized. Though WordPress is 100% SEO friendly, but you canβt say that it is SEO optimized too.
Being SEO friendly and SEO optimized are two entirely different things.
This is one of the most popular misconceptions among bloggers that when they will switch to WordPress their website or blog will start coming on the front page of Google searches as it is well search engine optimized and friendly platform.
If it would have been true, all websites made in WordPress would have featured there in top 10 π
Let me tell you all that while switching to WordPress never think that all SEO tasks will be done automatically and your website will start displaying in top 10 in Google searches. It is certainly true that WP is SEO friendly, and provides you many options through which you can manage the SEO of your website properly and quite easily or conveniently. But it really does not mean that it will happen automatically.
You can use plugins like All in One SEO or Yoast WordPress SEO plugin to manage the Search Engine Optimization of your website, but you also need to do the basics rightly so that it can give good results for your website. You can also need to put SEO things correctly on each of the pages of your website; else there is no point in having those plugins or using WordPress platform for your website.
Most of the time people claim that WordPress is SEO Optimized. But honestly it is not true. Nothing can become SEO optimized if and only if you canβt make the things proper as per the SEO standards.
Let me tell you all that those who are not much aware about SEO or technical things are actually also not much aware about the differences between SEO Optimized and SEO Friendly.
Let me tell you more about it, SEO friendly is something which you can say convenient from the SEO perspective. With the help of simple plugins like the two which I mentioned above you can easily do the SEO of your website and make it SEO Optimized. But when we say it is SEO Optimized it simply means that it is already optimized and you need not to do anything to make it proper.
I hope I have been able to clear the differences between SEO Optimized and SEO Friendly, what do you say?
What I can say to you all who are reading this blog post is that WordPress is one of the finest platforms which can really help you to do SEO or Search Engine Optimization of your website and that too quite conveniently. You can easily build and develop a blog or website with the help of it which can be SEO friendly, but to make it optimized you too need to do some basic works on it and you are done.
Did you read one of my latest blog on why to avoid link building when it comes about the Off Page optimization of your website is concerned, backlinks plays a crucial role into it. You should read it and understand why you should avoid doing link building for your website, and start focusing on earning quality links for your website. You can also read yet another blog post of mine on you can shift your focus towards building a quality site, and share your opinion about it in the form of comments.
Just to conclude this blog I would say one line, WordPress is such a nice platform that you can do whatever you want to do with the help of it. You just need to know how to work with themes and plugins and you can develop any types of website through WP.
Nice Alok.. I think I have installed Yaost plug in and it is really good. Although I did have to work a lot to make the posts to come up in google, but it is a nice feeling to know that the search results are redirecting to the site. It is a hard path ahead but I am sure that once it gets there the results would sure be worth it..
Yes Vinay, you are absolutely right. You are already going on the right path and I am sure you will reach to the top very soon π My best wishes are always there with you.
This article is myth debunking and informative at the same time. I think lots of newbies use to be confused between the two terms i.e. SEO friendly and SEO optimized. They should read this post before making any decision.
Thought it doesn’t matter that it is not SEO optimized however, having a doubt in mind that WordPress is SEO optimized keeps them struck. They should know that SEO is a practise and if that was the case the whole SEO industry could have dismantled by WordPress.
You are absolutely right Nitin, thanks that you liked my blog post and I should also thank you for your words that SEO is a practice π Which can be controlled by practice only π
Oh I didnt know abt it at all, Thanks Alok !
Thank you so much Ananya π
Only thing I find special in wordpress is yoast plugin π
Hmm, that is in fact a great value addition, though I guess WordPress is far better than any other blogging platform.
Thanks for clearing a misconception.
