Do You Blog As a Hobby or As a Profession?
About The Author
Hi friends, my name is Alok Vats, and I am the owner of this website I News India. From last six years I am trying to build this website, I started this website from scratch and then with the help of my friends like Pooja, Prachi, and Divya I published many articles over here. Recently Harshita, Tanmay and Aayushi too joined my website, and am really glad to share some articles written by them over here. I am sure many of you would love the same.
These days I am managing the site with myself only and the focus is to share blogs on the topics like Blogging Tips, Self Improvement, SEO, and all other things which can make you to enhance your life.
Nice one Alok. As you pointed out there are 2 beautiful aspects of blogging
1) The personal front – a great way to exchange thoughts and ideas and of course make some amazing friends
2) The professional front – The business way to go about it – like the ones done by the sites
I think there is one more way – a bridge between the two. Perhaps I am trying to do that on my site now. trying to connect to more people with that one thought of bringing in a clearer thought and slight improvements in the quality of life.. But then, I think it is all about people, a way to open ourselves up and find a window to the world.
I liked the article Alok, very you 🙂
You are absolutely right buddy. There is a bridge between the two approach. And I guess that is the ideal way to go for it.
Thanks for the kind mention in your blog post Alok. And yes, your blog is definitely an inspiration to me.
Hope you’re coming for the blogger meet? 13th Feb. See you there.
Hey Kalpanaa, great to meet you. I will definitely try to attend the same.
Another good lines
I am a blogger by heart and write blog by profession
Hey Kirti, thank you so much, I am glad that you liked it. 🙂 Your line of “I am a blogger by heart and write blog by profession” is fantastic.
Alok, this question pops very often. I feel it’s not wrong if you earn through your writing.
Here earning can be of different form
earning recognition,
earning appreciation,
earning money.
All three are different in terms n presence. If you get 1n 2, 3 will surely follow.
Yes blogging to me is by passion and profession.
Absolutely correct Meenal 🙂 You earn recognition, appreciation, and a bit of money as well from your blogging. And very true that blogging is the passion and profession for you. 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your comment with us.
A good discussion Alok. What I feel, everyone starts blogging out of the passion to share knowledge and experience, like I share my travel experiences, accommodation reviews, driving directions etc on yayawar.com. Then comes exchange of knowledge which starts once people acknowledge your posts and pour their thoughts on to them. Further comes the recognition – being appreciated and liked by people, talked about and you feel yourself proud helping people. Last of course is about monetizing your blog, and why not? People don’t pay anything extra to purchase goods when they click on the adverts on your sites, and you generally put only those adverts that you trust. I don’t see it as a bad thing to do. Plus, one should also recognize the fact, generally the revenue generated through ads is too meager, most of the times, not even enough to post your domain and hosting cost for the year! And even the most successful ones don’t earn more than 30% of their requirement through the ads.
So, yes, I’d say that it is more of a hobby than a profession.
Absolutely right Yayawar jee. Thank you so much for sharing your opinion with us. 🙂
“You write your feelings, thoughts on paper and share it with people. ” You have said it perfectly, for me blogging is about giving expression to my thoughts. I mainly do it for the love of writing and cooking. If one goes through my early posts, I have published a lot of little known recipes that are native to Odisha.
And I was quite late to monetize my blog . But these days I do get some writing work on a regular basis which pays a decent amount and I don’t really mind it. However I would never take up anything that lacks conviction or even fails to stir my interest.
It is more like a case of mixing work with pleasure for me 🙂
Glad to hear all this Sweta 🙂 Thanks a lot for sharing your heart out with us.
Liked your take.
Thank you so much Parwati 🙂
Well written as usual, Alok.
I don’t blog as a professional, though I find I am investing most of my time here 🙂 As a software professional I got paid for my effort! But, here, the payment are the nice words, advice, suggestions etc we receive and amazing people we get to meet 🙂
That includes you too!
Cheers to Blogging! 🙂
Absolutely right Anita 🙂
Nicely put Alok ji…
I have been writing for a while too but only recently came up with this blog. I love poetry and writing…and this blog has given me a platform to express myself. As of now, I am not sure what my next post will be or how this blog will turn out. But one thing is certain…that I will keep writing.
” मैं शायर तो नहीं , पर इन जज़्बात का इस काग़ज़ से ज़रूर कोई नाता है…
के लोग समझ पाते नहीं जो एहसास, वो अनायास ही इसपर उतर आता है…”
