How to Get to the First Page of Google Search?

The ultimate desire of any website or blog is to reach to the top of the Google search. Do you know how to reach there? Read on this post on how to get to the first page of Google search?

A few years back reaching to the first page of Google search was not a big deal. Create a page with some relevant keywords and a bit of content, no matter of what quality, and do a bit of link exchange and submit your link in around 300-400 social bookmarking sites, and you are done. You can see your link at the first page of the Google search.

But all these steps were type of unethical, and were followed by mostly the poor quality SEO firms. Those who did these things are out of scene now. And those who did not follow these things are surviving even after the era of Post Penguin and Panda updates.

How to Get to the First Page of Google Search?

Here are some of the tips which I can give to any website or blog owner to reach to the first page of Google search:

Ask These Questions

If you seriously want to feature your website or blog on the first page of Google search, then you must need to ask these few questions to yourself before creating any new page or blog on your site:

Is there anyone who is searching for it?

Before planning a new page or a blog post you should first think about if there are people who search for or looking for it? You can use Google Adwords keyword tool to verify it.

When you decided to write about a particular thing, you should visit the Keyword Planner section of Google Adwords, here you can give the keywords for which you want to see if some real people are searching for it or not?

Just for an example, I am searching for two keywords 10 Benefits of Reading and Benefits of Reading in it:

When you click on search you will get Ad Group Ideas and Keyword Ideas, visit the Keyword ideas Tab and you will get the exact value of average monthly searches of the keywords which you are targeting. Something like:

You can clearly see that benefits of reading are having around 9900 searches in a month in Google while 10 benefits of reading will have only 170 searches. I decided to create a page on 10 benefits of reading, as it is covering both the keywords in it.

What is the competition for it?

The next most important question which you need to ask yourself is that what is the competition for it? You decided to create a page on iPhone 6, but do you think you have the chance to ever reach to the first page of Google for it?

You need to be fair with your thoughts. Do understand the value of the brand which your website is and then only decide if you can be able to reach to the first page of Google for a particular search or not?

The big question is how can you analyze it?

Use Google search for it. Decide about the real competition which you are going to face in organic search. Let me clear about one of the confusion which most of us have, while doing these things. If you see the previous image, you can see this confusion quite clearly. Let me share the same image again:

In this image you will realize that there is a column of competition, which is something which confuses many people. Normally one might assumes that it is the competition which they might face while fighting for organic searches, but it is not true.

It is the parameter for the competition in Google Adwords program, and you should not take it for the competition in organic searches. You can decide about the competition faced for a particular keywords search on the organic searches of Google as you search for it in Google with double quotes. Something like:

You can see a number of About 1,17,00,000 results (0.45 seconds), like About 9,440 results (0.50 seconds) for the second keyword:

It is a clear indication that if you are planning to create a page targeting benefits of reading keywords, you will have to face the toughest competition for it, as already 1,17,00,000 websites are fighting for this keywords, while if you plan about 10 benefits of reading, like I did, you will have to face the competition from only 9,440 websites. You can clearly see that my blog is featuring there.

So these two things will clearly give you an idea about on what things you should create a new page or blog.

What benefit or unique things one user will get if they lands to your page?

Now this is something which many people ignores while developing a new page or blog on their site. Once you decided about the topic and keywords for it, you should also need to analyze what features other pages, or blogs are providing, which are already ranking for that particular keywords.

For analyzing this you must need to search for the same keywords in Google, but please don’t use the double quotes this time. Double quotes were used for only getting the number of competition, but to analyze which competitors are there on the top of the keyword search you must need to remove it and then search the same in Google.

Try to understand after all what unique value your page can provide to its visitors so that they can think about it more useful than many other existing pages on Google?

If you are unable to provide any unique experience to your readers, I am quite sure Google will never ever think about ranking you on many other existing and useful web pages.

Let me tell you one very important thing, around 90% people who searches on Google or any other search engine sites, never visit the second page to search any particular things. Only some of the SEO’s like us went to deeper pages to see results.

Similarly if you are featuring on the first position, maximum click through will land to your website only. Just giving you an idea, you have already seen that 10 benefits of reading is having only 170 average searches, that too globally, and my site is ranking there at second position, but still I am getting somewhere around 40-50 clicks on a monthly basis for that particular search phrase.

You can thus imaging the clicks which a site featuring at the first position is getting.

This being the reason why everyone is fighting to reach to that particular position, but the question is that how? How can we reach to the top of the Google Search?

How to Come Up on First Page of Google Search?

Here are some of the tips which I can give and you can implement for the SEO of your website or blog:

Target Long Tail Keywords

One thing which you already have understood from the above experiment is that targeting long tail keywords is quite better than targeting for keywords which has so many searches and competition.

Targeting long tail keywords has one more benefits, and it is that indirectly you are targeting other keywords as well, which are already featuring in it.

Prepare Quality Content

Try to give the best of yourself to prepare the best and quality content for your website or blog. We all already know about content being the king of online marketing and search engine optimization. And as I already mentioned above that you should provide some unique value to your visitors, this can be achieved by your content only.

And one more thing, which is even more important than preparing quality content. And it is that it should be original only. Have Proper Image

Use Proper Title and Descriptions

As I already illustrated the importance of the Meta title and descriptions many a times in my blog, I would suggest everyone to focus on these two things while preparing the content for their website. No matter if you are creating a new page or a new blog post, do focus on creating these two things even before you start preparing the original content of your page.

Use Canonical Tags

As I already mentioned in one of my previous blog post on SEO trends 2015 that other than Meta tags, one essential tag for SEO purposes is the canonical tags. Don’t forget to use the same for each pages of your website or blog.

Use Headers Tags

Uses of header tags are also critical for the SEO purposes of a website or blog. Try to use header tags like H1, H2, H3, etc. on every web page of your website.

Create Quality Backlinks

Come what may in SEO, but back links to your website for the ranking purposes is essential. Nothing can take place of backlinks when it comes to rank on Google. But the thing which you can control and manage properly is the quality of the back links.

I would suggest that you should never ever compromise for the quality of the back links. Try to grab back links from reliable and authentic sources and use social media sites effectively to build natural links for your website.

Guest blogging is itself a powerful tool to build quality links for your website, but remember following these tips while going for guest blogging to get good results.
