Many a times during seminars, or bloggers meet which I attend, many fresher bloggers ask me how to write a blog post? Though I usually share such blogging tips, but read on this blog post of mine to know more about how to write a blog post?

My usual response to the above question is “through MS Word”. 🙂

Jokes apart, but believe me I have realized that majority of the guys who ask me this question are almost new to the world of blogging. Those who do have an experience, never ask me this question.

While my normal nature is to help newbie bloggers, so that they can also become a confident blogger, so here I am coming up with this blog post on how to write a blog post.

Don’t Make Any Blogging Mistakes

Mistakes are like road blockers. To avoid situations which can block the road towards your success you should always avoid doing some blogging mistakes which are quite normal in the field of blogging. Do understand the fact that almost every blogger makes some mistakes at the beginning of their blogging life.

There is absolutely no harm in accepting the mistakes. It is always a good idea to identify mistakes and rectify the same so that you cannot be affected due to it.

Let me tell you something about some of the most popular blogging mistakes which almost many bloggers make at the beginning of their career as a blogger:

Selecting a Free Blog

Selecting a free blog or hosting your blog on free blogging platforms like Blogger, WordPress.com, tumblr, etc. is one of the most common blogging mistakes which every blogger should avoid. Please buy a domain name for your blog, and then purchase a hosting space for your blog. Host your blog using WordPress.org software, read this blog post of mine if you are not aware about how to install WordPress, and enjoy the lucrative world of blogging.

If you are serious about blogging then you should invest something on your blog so that it can give you the name and the fame in return. Monetizing a blog can be your target, but don’t take these investment as an investment for the purpose of earning. Rather I would suggest you to invest the amount on domain and hosting as the essential things required.

Selecting Wrong Niche

Niche selection for a blog is really crucial for the success of that blog. You are an expert in writing on financial things, but you started blogging on technological things. It is obviously not an ideal situation.

Select the niche as per your passion and write blogs on that particular niche only.

You can check rest all the other blogging mistakes over here. Although I can say one thing, you all can say that I always ask others to go for self hosted WordPress blogs, is there any specific reasons why I emphasize so much on it?

Well honestly, it is my own experience which clearly asks me to guide others about the best things. Let me tell you one thing quite clearly, if you ask any expert blogger, his or her first choice will always be the self hosted WordPress blogs. You won’t find any well known blogger blogging on any blogspot.com site.

Have Confidence

No matter what you decided to write on, do have confidence on yourself that you can give value addition to your reader’s life. Confidence is the key which can open the door of success to anyone in any field.

The main reason why am I saying this is because your confidence should display in the posts which you blog on your blog. Readers should easily grab this high confidence level through your blog posts.

Choose Topic Wisely

Since I am having the confidence about whatever I write on my blog, and I did not have any blogging mistakes too on my blogs, so the first step which I take care is of choosing the topic for my blogs. It should always be a wise selection.

You cannot repeat the topics, and you can also repeat them as well. The important thing is that you should always give some value addition to your readers, no matter if you are repeating some particular topics only. Choose topics related to your own niche and I am sure you can be able to write some great posts on it.

Choose Keywords Wisely

Choosing keywords for your blog is critical. Once you decided about a topic, try to search Google and other search engines about some relevant key phrases through which you can assume your potential readers might search your blog on search engines.

Do a bit of research about those keywords in Google Adwords Keywords Tools and you can come up with some more relevant keywords and you can also search for the competition on those keywords in organic searches and you can fix which keywords you are going to focus on this particular blog.

Write Title and Description First

Two things on which I emphasize even more time than writing a full blog are its title and description. Give as much time on these two as possible but try to bring the best possible one.

Make sure that you should have your main keyword in the title of your blog, and since it automatically converts into the URL in WordPress system, I usually prefer having those types of title only. Also try to have your main keywords and title on your description as well.

With most of my blogs, I usually have the introductory paragraph of my blog as the description which I make for that blog.

Mention Points

Before starting writing on the topic which you chose for your blog, you should first mention the points which you want to give in that particular post.

I usually note down the points for a new blog post on my mobile phone only, so that I can find it handy at the time I start writing on that blog.

Elaborate Each Points

The success of any blog post depends on how you elaborated each and every point of your posts. This is the reason why I write at least a paragraph for each of the points which I am focusing on any blog.

Do understand the fact that many readers might skim through your blog, for them points or headers and sub-headers are quite important, but for those who will read your blog importantly, for them you must need to elaborate each and every point on your post.

Conclusion is a Must

Last night only we were watching a movie. Normally it won’t happen with us, but don’t know how we had a power failure at the time of the climax only. The power failed for few seconds only, but it tripped the power supply to our television set, and the set top box got restarted because of it. It usually takes a few minutes to restart the television set and for all these reasons we almost missed around 5 minutes of that movie and it was something which upsets us badly.

Reason being the fact that it was the climax of the movie and we all know the important of the climax in a movie. Similar is the situation with a blog post as well. A crispy and good conclusion is a must to make your blog post a super hit one.

Proper Category Selection

Many bloggers don’t realize the importance of having a proper category for their blog. In fact there are many bloggers who simply ignore the categories field on their blog. It is also one of the most basic blogging mistakes.

We should have proper categories on our blog and the posts should be submitted in the proper category only. We can select more than one category for a post, but we must need proper category selection for each of our blog post.
