  1. Thanks Alok for sharing these points. Informative!
    I do have Copyscape already.
It is sad when content is copied. Hard-work is not recognized & there’s no credit when there’s duplicate content. Really unfair to the original thinker/writer.
Though it’s said- ‘Imitation is the finest form of flattery’, how can we be flattered when we find such duplication happening?…
Hope everyone makes use of own mind and ideas and creates original content ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. You are right Anita, it is very sad when people copy the content from somewhere else. Let’s hope people should think about it seriously ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Nice one Alok :).. I use the plagiarism checker tool for duplication of content. However since even most of my content is my own words, I haven’t found much use to that yet. But with guest posts, I usually make sure that I check first and then take a call about posting it. Like you mentioned, an original post does make a lot of difference to the site as opposed to copied content and it is best to avoid it and keep it at just taking the inspiration from it ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. You are absolutely right Vinay, since we uses our own words only so using CopyScape for our content is useless for us. But still sometimes it can be possible that we are matching with the pattern of a content written by someone else, so for that precaution we must need to go through it. Yes it is also true that for guest blogs we must need to check, and special care should be given for the author bio section. Most of the time, people uses the same author bio for their guest blogs, and it can also fall your blog into Copied content list.

      1. Aah I had not thought about that Alok.. That is a very valuable advice. I shall take this into consideration from the next time about guest bloggers ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for sharing the information. Copyscape is already there….

    I often wonder why people imitate other’s work…it really ruins one’s hard work… ๐Ÿ™

    1. You are absolutely right Maniparna, it is something which even hurts me too. People should take inspiration from others, but not the hard work which other person invested on their work.

Thank you so much for sharing your opinion with us ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Very well written and explained. I am sure readers will benefit from this and all the “copy paste Bloggers” will try and focus on original stuff.. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Alok Bhai sahab, If a blogger is author at two other blogs owned by two other bloggers. He creates a post on his own blog and simultaneously uploads the same post on the two other blogs too where he is authorised to post. He uploads the post using his own name as author. In this case contents are same, author is same but posted on three different blogs. Will the contents be considered duplicate for the blogs on which these are posted later ?

    1. Yes Sampat Kumari jee, it will also be considered as a duplicate content. The best way to do is that you can use the canonical tags on the other blogs, tagging the original posts link. Or you can also put a noindex and nofollow tags on the other blogs.

Pasting content from one page to any other page, no matter if on your site or on some other site only, is actually bad as it will be the duplicate content.

  8. The most reasonable idea for duplicate content is to rewrite it completely. You can never stop someone from copying your website, but you can for example incorporate a code that disables right click on a website. You can also fight with online plagiarism differently, like you mentioned freemium programs work quite nice, I use Copyact (http://copyact.com/) and it sends me a report every time someone copies my content.
Apart from copied content there are also technical adjustments that might be done, for example mobile and print versions of a website can’t have the same address because search engines will index them as duplicates.
    Cheers,
    Sam

    1. Absolutely correct Sam. Thank you so much Sam ๐Ÿ™‚
