  1. Neat one Alok. I faced a huge bandwidth issue because of the large size of the images I used. I think cleaning up the library was the best thing I did to sort this problem. From then on, I have used only jpg images cos png takes more size. Along with this I have used vso image resizer to reduce the size of the image and to top it, I have started using the plugin wpsmush it which has been phenomenal in bringing the image size and issues caused by it to a minimum 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Vinay for letting me know about it, I too started using it since then and I am seriously liking it 🙂

  2. Thanks for sharing this info, Alok.
I was not too sure about Title & Alt text of images & used similar text in both field 🙂
Should the Alt text be written separated by “-”
    For example
    Title- Art of India
    Alt- Art-of-India
Do inform if this is correct.
I use Paint mostly. I insert text & put my Blog’s name 🙂
Image quality is affected when cropped.
My issue is that once I have uploaded the images to my Blog, sometimes I’m too lazy sharing additional details 🙂
Another point- How to make sure that Image reflects our Blog’s name?
    Sometimes it shows auto-link- 1.bp.etc
I have been planning to read up on this… Please share details in your next post.
    Need help from the expert!

    1. Yes Anita you can separate them with a hyphen. There is absolutely no harm in doing so as far as title and alt tags are concerned. They are being treated as space by Google.

Sure Anita, I will definitely share whatever I know about it in a post. But before doing so I will have to talk to you in understanding the real issue, as frankly I did not get what issue are you facing. Sorry about that. Will connect with you soon 🙂

  3. Good post, Alok. I also take care to compress my images before uploading them. In the long run, they can slow down the blog. Good information about Alt tags and title as well.

    1. Absolutely. Thank you so much Rachna for sharing your comment 🙂 I am extremely delighted that you liked it.

  4. Hi, Its an very informative post!! I do optimize my images but still the page insights says my page site is slow and I must optimize them. Being a food blog, I use many images. Can you suggest an compression plugin for blogger?
I do use alt tags but I give long keywords and not sentences, is that ok? Does it have any word count limitation?

    1. Yes Ree, you can use WP Smush.it or Imsanity. By the way if you are still facing the issue, then it is time to change your web hosting… Do pick up the best of it to make your blog faster.

Long keywords are fine, there is actually no any hard cash rules for word count for alt tags. But then you should make sure that it should not become a sentences… 🙂
