  1. Having used both blogger and wordpress, I would certainly vouch for wordpress with my eyes closed, just cos of its simplicity, the wide variety of plugins available and the search engine friendliness.. All in all, WordPress is a complete winner 🙂

    1. Absolutely correct Vinay and thanks a lot for supporting my views 🙂

  2. Hahah free platforms are like using a rented apartment. True. Many a times i have thought of moving to my own but out of laziness and transferring all the posts, data i leave the thought.

Thanks for reading The Sinhas at No 302 and encouraging with your votes. Much appreciate it Alok.

    Best Wishes from Bangalore.

    1. Thanks a lot Shweta for your comment over here. I do know the fact that we all do fear from so many things when we think about upgrading our blog. But then we will have to think about what is best for our blog and for us as well 🙂

Do let me know for any help related to upgrading your blog or blogging it self. I will be there to help you. 🙂

Thank you so much for the appreciation, but I do read and encourage those blogs which I do love reading 🙂 Your blog is truly awesome.

  3. Alok, I always find whenever you talk about Blogging Platforms, you just ignore the blogging platform of the Great Amitabh Bachchan – Tumblr. I’m too using it and it has many great advantages over other free blogging platforms. 🙂

    1. Ha ha Ravish, it is not like that I did not mentioned Tumblr in this post, check this para:

“Another popular option is tumblr. It is also much popular, but I don’t like it much. Seriously speaking I never used tumblr so I won’t comment anything on it.”

The question is that it is a platform which I never used, so how can I write about it? Second thing, since I am not at all aware about pros and cons of using Tumblr how can I suggest someone to use it? Third thing it is quite natural that Tumblr has the impression of a blogging platform which is normally used for Reblogging purposes, and this is the reason why I never went to use it. 🙂

  4. Well after retirement I started writing casually about experinces of past, about travels in facebook. Friends liked it which encouraged me to write more. Then somebody suggested & helped in getting free Blogger & that is it. I am still not that computer savvy. Came to know about wordpress later. As of now there are 30217 visitors on my blogs & I feel I should have my ‘own’ page. OK will give it a serious thought. Thanks.

    1. Yes Harsh Wardhan Sir, having own domain name and self hosted blog is very important if you are doing blogging and taking it seriously. Number of visitors are not that important, but the importance is of how they are liking your blog 🙂 Do let me know if I can help you any way in setting up your own customized and self hosted domain blog.

I am using blogger and very used to of it. Till now i haven’t used wordpress.
    But still outstanding post 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Gaurav. I am aware the day you start using WordPress you will simply love it 🙂

  6. You wrote about a topic which I was searching for…..This is indeed helpful for me 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Remya, I am delighted that you found whatever you were searching for in my blog.

  7. Excellent post. I completely agree with you about wordpress. I ported my blog from blogger to wordpress.com and found it much more convenient. Can you also tell when should someone consider upgrading to a wordpress.org blog from a free wordpress.com blog?

    1. Well Somali, I always say that having a blogspot or wordpress.com is almost similar and no blogger should use those free mediums. Though since at the beginning we are not much aware about these things, so we can have blogs on these platform. But the moment you realized that you are liking blogging and would seriously work for your blog, you should upgrade to the self hosted one. As I already mentioned that using free blogging platforms are like using an apartment on rent, while having self hosted blogs is like having your own home and you can decorate it the way you want.

This is the reason why I always suggest everyone to go for self hosted blog…
