A blog is almost dead if it has no or zero traffic. What are the ways to get traffic on any blog? Read on this blog post of mine on how to boost your blog traffic?
There are many blogger friends of mine who use to ask me this question. A few years back getting traffic was quite easier than what it is these days. There was a time when people use to submit their websites on web directories, and social bookmarking sites and use to get some SEO boost as well, which ultimately turns into traffic.
But since the inception of Google Penguin and Panda updates, all these tricks are obsolete now. We already know that these tactics are harmful for the health of our website these days. So I won’t recommend anyone to use these two techniques to get some traffic boost.
Though as far those two methods of web directories and social bookmarking are concerned, you can choose quality websites to submit your site on them. It certainly won’t return huge returns, but yes it won’t even harm the SEO efforts of your website.

So the most important question is how to get the blog traffic? Remember I won’t explain about quality content in this post, as I know most of the bloggers are already aware about it. Let me suggest you a few tips other than posting quality blogs on your blog, which might help you to boost the traffic of your blog:
Twitter is one of best and easiest way to boost the traffic of any blog. Only thing which might restrict you from using twitter is that it is not that much easier as well as known by many people.
The first thing which you can do is to build a huge network over there. Building network over there or having a large following on twitter is not that much easier as well.
But it is also true that Twitter is the simplest and easiest way to get some attention and you can easily get some quick visitors on your blog through it.
The most important things which come with Twitter are known as hashtags. You can easily use relevant hashtags to popularize your tweets. Learn the tactics to use popular hashtags along with your tweets.
If you have a huge following on Twitter, your tweets will definitely help you to boost your blog traffic.
Here I would also like to give an important tip, normally people say that automate the sharing of content on Twitter, and use short links, but I have a different opinion about both of these points. I strongly feel that automate the sharing of content of your blog actually helps your followers to ignore such tweets, while short links are good if you already has an established blog, but normally people see short links from an strange eyes.
There are fears among tweeter users who are not familiar with your brands that these short links might be a way to do spam, so they probably won’t click on those links. Thus I would recommend using full URL’s instead of any short URL for your posts and tweet in a manner that your followers should not understand that these tweets are automated tweets only.
Try to increases the likes of your Facebook Fan Page. It is a medium which can give you some great loyal traffic. Always share your new blog posts on your Facebook fan page, which should include a link to your blog post and if possible then must have an image for it.
Remember the quality content over your FB page also decides the fate of the traffic on your blog through Facebook. If you do share engaging and attractive content on a regular interval, it is sure that soon your fan page will have some great number of loyal followers.
One of my blogger friend Ravish has actually pointed out many a times that the tweet button below my blog posts are not working properly, though whenever I clicked on the same I never faced any issue with it. I am talking about this twitter button:

I would request all the readers of mine to please do click on the same and do let me know if you are also facing any issue in sharing blog posts through the same. It will be beneficial for me in two ways, one if there will be no error on tweet button, then my blog posts will have many tweets, and if it has error I will get an idea (a fixed one) about it.
Coming back to our discussion on how to boost your blog traffic, I must suggest that everyone should have the icons of all the social media profiles where their blog is having a presence, so that their readers can be able to easily share your links on those sites.
You never know when a person tweets about your blog post and if he has a huge number of followers, your blog will be in limelight for many days.
I would also suggest one of the simplest ways to get more tweets and FB like and shares; you can also refer influential people on your blog posts, and tweet or share on FB mentioning them. You never know if they liked it and share it with their followers. Your blog will definitely get the much required attention.
For many Google+ might come as the most important thing; but for me it always comes in priority after Twitter and FB only. You can though have a +1 button on your blogs even if you are not using it, but ideally it is a medium which will surely return you some great benefits.
Try to create a new page for your blog on Google+ and increase your activity over there.
Once one of my blogger friend Payal asked me to write something on Off Page optimization as I mentioned On Page and Off Page things on one of my blog post different types of SEO, I guess this blog post can also be considered as a response to the same, as these are the things only which you can do in Off Page optimization as well and will surely return blog traffic as well.
Pinterest is one of the most delicate social bookmarking sites. Though I am that much creative when it comes to design images for my blog posts, but still I try to create some image for all my blog posts.
If you are good into designing images for your blogs, you must try using Pinterest for your blog. Pinterest is a unique social networking site for pictures, images or videos. You can easily share them over there.
There was a time when I use to work on advertising a service based website on LinkedIn and believe me the importance of leads which we were getting for that site. LinkedIn DirectAds were one of my favorite options (obviously paid and even better than Google AdWords) as far as getting perfect place for advertisements were concerned.
But when it comes to get free links and traffic to your website, you should not ever ignore LinkedIn for it. Though it is a fact that I did not do the same for I News India or any other sites of mine, but yes it is because that I don’t get much time to work on LinkedIn, but if you want to get some good number of visitors on your blog, you should always try your hand in LinkedIn as well.
A blog is entirely different than a website, you can also read my blog on 5 differences between a blog and website, but these 5 points were not the only difference between a blog and a website. Actually a blog has a unique way to get visitors and that is through their subscribers. If you are subscribed to a blog, you are supposed to get notifications about the new blog posts of a blog, thus depending on your choice, like and dislikes, you can visit the blog.
Thus if you are running a blog then you should never ignore the subscribers of your blog. They are the regular visitors of your blog.
All these tips are useless if the blog posts of your blog are useless for your readers. So writing quality, informative, fresh content for your blog visitors is the basic of getting traffic to any blog, but yes also focuses the needs of your readers. Try to understand what exactly are they looking for and post blogs on the same types of things.
Hope you like this blog post. Kindly share your opinion about it in the form of comment. You can also share my posts on Twitter, Facebook and Google+. We can also discuss about your opinion about this blog posts on those websites.
