Never really know the importance of H1, H2 and H3…in SEO world! Some of these points are very relevant and helpful for me to make it more SEO friendly. Thanks again Alok.

    1. Thank you so much Vidhya ๐Ÿ™‚ I am glad that you liked this blog post of mine.

  2. Thanks Alok, This is a very important post and an engaging one as well. I learnt from you the use of headings and sub headings. I however havent started the use of H1 H2 headings. I thought they were mostly for editor styles and appearance. Does it affect the seo too?

As for the images, I have started using the alt tags now and for the first time in months, the search engine visits are increasing which is an amazing sign, hope to work on it further and make it better ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Great to hear that Vinay. You are the one who is accepting that you are getting benefits from my SEO suggestions. But yes when I said you to use heading n sub-headings on your post I guess I told you to use header tags only.

Try to use maximum one or less H1 tags, maximum two or less H2 tags, and a few H3 tags on your each blog. Make sure there should not be more than one H1 tags on your post, and use keywords in these tags.

Hope it should even return you better rankings.

  3. Excellent post for all the beginners. A few useful tips for the established bloggers too.

    1. Thank you so much Sibichen, I am glad that you liked this blog post of mine ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much for your comment ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Good points well presented ๐Ÿ™‚ Alok why not H1 tag more than once I often use it with CSS to look it normal. Is it going to put adverse SEO effect on my blog?

    1. Yes Ravish, it will put adverse SEO effect on your blog. Look wise it might look better, but you know it is like using “Bramhashtra” and you can use it once only on one page. If you are using more than once it might be considered as over optimization. Now it is a term from which Google want to keep a distance from. So be cautious buddy, don’t do over optimization in any case on your blog. Using H1 tags for more than once is like doing over optimization only.

  5. H1, H2 and H3 and SEO never knew of it. Thanks for the post. I sometimes shy away from using illustrations and pics A good advice that one.

    1. Thank you so much Datta ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes header tags like H1, H2, H3, etc. plays a very crucial role in SEO…. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Alok, excellent article. It will help many blog owners and webmasters. The title is of course the most important thing to attract new visitors and the next important factor is pictures in the article.

    1. Thank you so much Kushal, yes it is true that title and pictures in the articles, plays a very encouraging role in making an eye catching and great blog posts. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am glad that you liked it.

This post will really help bloggers to attract more traffic for their blog post. Your all post , i recently read are really very impressive and works as a guide for new as well as established bloggers.

    1. Thank you so much Yogi Saraswat jee ๐Ÿ™‚ It certainly gives the satisfaction when readers like your blog posts.

  8. That’s very interesting Alok. The H1 H2 tags however look very big on my site, I have tried and used H4 on my latest article today. Does that help? I have about 10-12 of these points in H4, do you think it is a bad practice? Thing is most of my posts say 10 points and hence there would usually be about 10 things with the same header tag. What would be the best way to approach this?

    1. Not at all Vinay, you can use all the main points of your blog in H4 or H5 as well. See as I said H1 is the most important portion, and it should not have two H1 on one page of your site, then comes the H2, which should also be not more than 2 or maximum 3, and then you can have H3 and H4, H5, and H6.

When you are giving H4 to any important point of your post, you are already telling everyone that this point is important than other texts of your post. So there is no harm in doing so.

  9. Interesting ๐Ÿ™‚ couldn’t help noticing comments appearing as “45 years ago” — any mystery behind it ๐Ÿ˜•

    1. Thank you so much Nandini for pointing the issue to me. Actually I too noticed it last night and am in discussion with the theme developers. It is a bug actually and we are trying to rectify it, hopefully we can be able resolve it soon ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I had no option but to glance through the previous comments before i reached the comment tab.. I too haven’t used h1, h2 tags…although i know they mean header one header two….and the size decreases as it goes downward (correct me if i am wrong)…but i don’t know how to implement or apply them in my blog!!! however, this post was engaging…i agree that the title and beginning should be catchy; this makes the reader read the entire post!!!

    1. You are right about H1 and H2 tags Shahen. I normally feel that the readers will be interested in reading the conversations other readers are having with the blow owner, before sharing their comments, and hence this system is there.

Shahen using H1 and H2 tags is quite easy, though it depends on the CSS settings of your blog that how will it’s output will be on your blog. Let’s say you want to make a text I News India as an H1 or H2 tag, you just need to put this in between <> (H1 inside <>) and it’s closing tag i.e. <> (/H1 inside <>), or <> (H2 inside <>) and it’s closing tag i.e. <> (/H2 inside <>).

      Example of H1 Tag:

      I News India

      Example of H2 Tag:

      I News India

I hope this way you can be able to use them. Please remember that you need to give it into the HTML editor of your blog…

  11. Thank you…I’ll try hand al

    1. Thanks a lot Shahen ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Alok Bhai sahab I write posts in MS Word and make changes like font size bold etc. in MS Word and then upload them to my blog. Is it harmful or a bad practice.

    1. Dear Sampat Kumari jee, I guess it is a wrong way to do so, what I do suggest you is to copy and paste the content on notepad and then paste on your editor and then format it as per your need. Pasting from MS Word, brings some unnecessary set of codes with it. We should avoid this method.
