Do you own a website or a blog? Do you know what the differences between a blog and website are? Do you know the nature of the content which you write on a regular basis is for a website or for a blog?
Read on this blog post of mine to know the major 5 differences between a blog and website.
Honestly when I started this blog my planning was to make it a good website, unfortunately I donโt have the resources and I failed to accomplish this task. Then I thought to change it into a blog and I guess I get a bit of success in making it a well known blog. There are some people out here in India who at least like this blog.
Although being a SEO, I can say that blog should be a must for any website, doing any businesses. But when it comes about differentiating a blog and a website, it is not a rocket science to do so, though not that much easier as well.

So here are some of the things through which we can differentiate between a blog and a website:
Normally the types of content and the frequency of the updates of content is something which can help you to differentiate between a blog and a website.
It is not a regular thing which needs to be updated on a normal website, but when it comes about a blog it is normally considered that its content is usually updated on a regular basis. Along with the regular updates, the content is being written in a personal form on a blog, but on the other hand the content written for a website looks more professional.
The tone of the content can be considered as the major factor of differences between a blog and a website.
Normally contents are presented in a different manner on these two types of sites. On a blog contents are normally arranged in a reverse chronological manner, while on a website you normally arrange things in a proper manner.
Although I am not saying that things are not arranged on a blog in a improper manner, they are also arranged in a proper manner only, but then normally they are being displayed in a reverse chronological manner only, like the latest post will be there on the top, and the oldest post at the down. You need to go through deep to located posts from some older days.
Normal conception is that a blog means a dynamic website, which is a website itself but updated on a dynamic basis.
Not only contents on a blog are arranged on the basis of their date of publishing, but they are syndicated as well. Normally we can be able to read a blog and a website as well on our browsers, but there is a special thing associated with blogs which we normally canโt see on a website. It is quite compulsory that blog will provide its readers an option of syndicate content, popularly known as feeds.
Through this option any reader can be able to read the content of your blog without even visiting it. With the help of their feed readers they can also track when your blog is being updated and having what content you published on your blog.
As I already said that a blogs are normally written in a tone which can make it a personal site. Hence a style of conversation normally goes in with every blog. It is like building a community and establishing communications with its readers on a blog.
These things are being lacked on a normal website.
Comments are something which you can see in a blog only, not on a website. Normally you can send feedbacks on a website, and not comments. The main reason being as I already told that the style of writing on a blog is to establish a conversation, and it can be completed in the form of comments only.
Normally a blog post attracts comments, replies, and many types of responses by their readers.
So these were the 5 things which can help us to differentiate between a blog and a website. I guess these were some of the reasons why a blog is usually crawled frequently by search engines than a website, as they know that a website would not update itself on a regular basis like a blog.
But then if your website is also having a blog, then it has fairly good chance to get more number of indexed pages on search engines. Also on a blog you can choose anything to write about it, which normally you can’t on a website.
