How to Stay Motivated?
We normally set goals for ourselves, try to reach our goals as well, but don’t know how sometimes we feel discouraged towards reaching the same goal. Read on this blog post of mine to know how to stay motivated towards reaching your goals.
Setting goals is not at all a bad things, I guess I mostly say this on my blogs as well, that we should target small-small goals in our life. I guess a few days back I told you all about the story of one of my friends who started a blog on mobile phones, but later feel very discouraged to continue this venture and that new blog on mobile died an unnatural death.
I strongly feel that we should reach to the target, if we ever fix any. We should not run away in the middle. When I started I News India a few years back, I faced so many hurdles in between. Once I was not having the money to renew the domain name as well. Many a time missed paying the hosting bills as well on time. In between twice I became jobless as well, once I was bachelor, while once I was having a family too.
Yeah and how can I forget the big Google updates, they too ruined my website for some of my mistakes only. I never realized that unknowingly I am putting content of less value on my site, and it affected badly on my blog.
But then since I was determined enough with this blog I came up and took all the charge to make it a great blog. When I hear the term like Blog-O-Pedia for my blog, which Ruchi Chopra, one of my blogger friend always mention about my blog I News India (she recently officially mentioned it on her blog as well, check this blog post to hear this and a few more appraise about my blog), and praise from blogger buddy like Vinay Nagaraju (I recently published my guest blog on his blog, check 7 ways to deal with anxiety), etc. it truly gives me the satisfaction that at least I am going in the right direction.
Although there are many more things to achieve in the world of blogging, but at least I am at the first step of the exact ladder on which I thought to climb up.
So what all the things which forces us to stay away from achieving the same targets which we fixed? Why do we all get distracted from reaching our own goal?
Honestly no one knows the reasons behind our distraction towards achieving the goals which we set ourselves only. But there are something’s which might inspire you all to stay motivated to reach your goals and these are:
If you don’t feel proud of what you are doing, you can easily get distracted from it. Learn the art to pat yourself for any small-small achievements you have made on a daily basis. Try to be social and advertise yourself only; don’t feel ashamed of sharing what little achievements you achieved on any day.
Just think about the appraisals made by Ruchi Chopra and I just shared it shamelessly on my FB and Twitter account. Should not I suppose to celebrate my appraisals?
While going towards your goal you might face so many hurdles, but then it is you only who can make the journey smooth, and it can only be possible if you do love whatever you set to do.
So don’t hesitate in patting yourself on your back if you achieved anything, mind it any achievement is priceless.
There could be time in your life when you and your work or your opinion would be valued less, how does it going to affect you? Why are you taking things personally?
It’s a part of life buddy, it happens with almost everyone. Do you think that people like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or even N. R. Narayana Murthy the founder of Infosys has not ever faced these situations? You will be surprised to know about them. You know that they are considered as the most successful people in this planet, but have you gone through by the life story of any of them?
Let me tell you something about Steve Jobs, people know that he established Apple, one of the largest IT company of this world (actually the second largest company by revenue as per WikiPedia), but how many of you know that once he was thrown out of the same company? He did establish some other company and later merged the same with Apple and became the CEO and face of Apple INC.
If Steve Jobs would have preferred to sit idle at his home those days, with depressing thoughts that the company which he established actually fired him, then what would have happen?
Would he been able to comeback in the boards of Apple? Would he be able to become the CEO of Apple INC?
Definitely not.
So the most important thing is that we should never feel negative about anything. I can resemble a bit with Jobs being jobless, don’t know when I will be successful though 😉
No matter how good you are, or how successful you were a day back, today you need to start from the beginning only. If you have the attitude for what you achieved in the past then I must say it might stop you to achieve whatever you want to.
I read somewhere a beautiful line just matching the point which I am saying, though I don’t know where I did read it and it is:
You are not trying to be an Athlete, rather you are an Athlete.
It is a simple line but has very deep meaning.
Well, undoubtedly it can be possible that you feel bore of doing the same things. When you are going towards achieving your goal some moments might come in between in which you feel distracted from doing things to achieve it.
But then you can simply take a break and switch things for some time, I mean temporarily shifting your focus from your goals, but then it can rejuvenate you and you can feel new energy towards achieving your goal.
No matter how meshed up you are in reaching towards your goal, take a break buddy and relax yourself a bit before going ahead with the same goal. Refreshment is very much required.
So those were some of the tips which I can give to anyone to stay motivated towards reaching their goal, though there is one most important thing which you can also do to stay motivated and this is to keep a note of why are getting distracted from reaching to your goal?
If you can maintain such lists you can easily get rid of all those whys.
I suppose you liked my blog post on how to stay motivated. If you did so then please don’t hesitate to share your opinion about it as well. Good wishes 🙂
Thank you so much Ruchi for mentioning such a nice and inspiring words about me and my blog. I am really delighted that you found my blogs as useful one. 🙂
This is a damn nice one Alok :).. Blog-0-paedia indeed :).. I strongly endorse Ruchi on this!
As for the post, it is indeed a lovely one. I think most of us get things started, but it is in consistently maintaining it or pursuing it is where the biggest difference lies. I have often wondered how many things have gone down just cos I did not have the energy or the focus to keep the drive on.. Indeed, being proud of what we do and knowing exactly why we are doing it make a tonne of a difference 🙂
Thank you so much Vinay. I am glad that you are also endorsing this title of Blog-O-Pedia for my blogs 🙂
Very true Vinay, I don’t know how many piece of content are still half-written on my PC, which I started but somehow did not get the motivation to finish it. You will be surprised to hear that whenever I try to write some fiction story, I got stuck in between and then don’t get the courage to complete it.
Though I am sure soon I will finish them as well…. 🙂
There Is a proverb in hindi”Gagar men Sagar” and it comletely fits the contents of shri Alokji’s blog.
Thank you so much Sampat Kumari jee 🙂 It is a pleasure to hear such things about my blog. I am really delighted that you like my blog so much 🙂
A very practical approach to deal with the problems lacking motivation. Desire sets fire but fuel of success is only motivation. I like that you are already what you are trying to be. A caterpillar is already a butterfly in potential. A very inspirational post, Alok. Indeed, it is a Blog-o-pedia.
Thank you so much Ravish 🙂 I am really feeling great that you liked it and you are also endorsing my blog as Blog-O-Pedia. This is really too motivating for me 🙂
Good tips. Motivation is much needed, Alok 🙂
Thank you so much Anita.
Same here Alok, I have a load of drafts which I wanted to write on.. But I am glad atleast this blog started or else I would have remained in that maze of postponing things back to back..
🙂 Thank you Vinay, though I am bit confuse if you are talking about I News India or Inspire 99, but still I am taking it as a complement only 🙂 Just kidding buddy, but yes it is true that we need to know about how we can stay motivated towards achieving our goals.
Again a very positive post, couldn’t agree more. Believing in oneself is the key to be motivated
Yes Datta you are right, self belief is the key behind motivation. Thank you so much for your comment, I am glad that you liked it.
Considering the ways by which you’re catering solutions to us..blog-o-paedia is a perfect coinage… 😀
This is another positive post from your side and highly relevant to our lives… 🙂
Wow another endorsement for my blog for Blog-O-Pedia. Amazing Maniparna. Thank you so much, I am really feeling great 🙂
I read Ruchi’s entitling you as Blog-O-Pedia on her blog 🙂 She is another beste whom I found in this world….Some much needed dose for me I guess…..(Can’t explicitly explain much here)….I always turn to your’s and Vinay’s blog to keep my ideology clear….I applaud you for beating all the odds and determination to survive and succeed in what you are doing….I like the point “If you have the attitude for what you achieved in the past then I must say it might stop you to achieve whatever you want to.”….Very true, if I bask in my prior achievements, highly possible that I would get overly confident or lethargic about the future goals and their achievements…
Well, I guess I am trying to say Thank You….
Thank you so much Vidya 🙂 Your comment and your Thank You, means a lot to me. You are right about Ruchi and Vinay as well. Both of them are such a nice buddy of mine and I am really thankful to my blog which gave me the chance to be friends with such nice guys. I am feeling really great that it is my blog which gives me the chance to get good friends like you, Vinay, Ruchi, Maniparna, Ravish, Anita, Amrita, Datta, Kaustav, Shweta, and many more….
You are very true that if someone will bask in their prior achievements only, it is highly possible that they would get over confident or lethargic about their future goals and will definitely fail to achieve the same. So I always say, past is past, forget about it, future is unknown to anyone, so stop worrying about it, only present is what you can control, just think about your current situation and try how you can improve it, how you can do things which can make it glorious after some time.
