Although there might be people who can claim that my own blog is not that much good looking, but as far as I know designing I tried to make it worthy. And the best thing is that I tried to make it as user friendly, which I think is more crucial that making a blog beautiful.

Honestly, whatever I say but the blog design matters a lot. If you eventually want to be successful as a blogger, then you simply cannot ignore the design of your blog. You need to make it more beautiful and user friendly so that user cannot feel trapped once landed to your site.

How to Improve Your Blog Design?Β

Here are some of the tips which I think can make your blog design as impressive:

Plugins UpdateΒ

If you are blogging with the help of WordPress, then ideally you should have all the plugins updated. Do remember one thing, whenever any new update of WordPress will arrive, it might create problem for you if you don’t have updated plugins.

Plus, updated plugins help your blog to load fast.

Remove Unwanted StuffsΒ

Some blogs might have stuffs like Meta Tag widget, or the Meta section through which an admin can login to your site, I guess we should identify those unwanted things from our blog and immediately remove them.

It will not only improve the user experience, but will also increase the load time of your blog.

Present Your Categories in a Better WayΒ

Don’t make the list of your categories or archives a lengthy affair. Try to either make them in a dropdown manner, or a simple list of all the categories. You can either put your categories on the header section or on the navigation bar. Try not to implement them on the footer section of the site.

Search BarΒ

I think every blog must need a search bar. Did you noticed if your blog has one or not?

Although people can argue about the placement of search bar, I usually place them on the header section, but then in my other blog Tech Acid, I placed them on footer. Reason being I thought, ever person should first reach to the bottom of the post to search anything.

But then you might argue for the opposite of the statement.

The main thing is not the placement of the search bar, but its presence on your blog.

Related and Most Popular PostsΒ

Many bloggers do this mistake of not displaying their related and most popular posts. It is a big mistake which need to be avoided.

Ideally a person who is landing on your blog should be forced to reason some more blogs of your site. And these related and most popular posts help in the same.

Provide Subscribe Us OptionΒ

Checks if your blog does give an option of subscribe us options or not? If not then do provide it to them.

It is your duty to give the option so that if someone likes your blogs will might be interested to subscribe and if they don’t found it, they will feel demoralized.

Font and Background ColorsΒ

Check if your blog is readable or not? Check if the font color making sense with the background color of your blog. It should not be like that no one can be able to read any portion of it.

You can also judge weather my blog is readable to you or not? You can leave your review in the form of comments on this blog.

Fast Loading of Your BlogΒ

Do check if your blog is loading fast or not? Do give importance to having quality web hosting for your blog. Do check the elements like JavaScript, unused plugins, flashy things, which might cause trouble in the loading of your blog. Try to get rid of all those things which might take long time to load on your blog.

Social Sharing OptionsΒ

These days if your blog don’t have this option of sharing then you are actually outdated. Do update your blog with the social sharing options. This is crucial not only for the SEO of your blog but also for the popularity of your blog.

Ads Placement and FormatΒ

If you are monetizing your blog, try to find better locations for your ads on your blog. It should not ever irritate your readers. Try to avoid the pop-ups or something which can distract your readers. It might irritate them so much that they will never land to your blog.

Ads might help you to earn something, but then you should not earn some money on behalf of your reputation.

About Us SectionΒ

Provide a good looking about us section to your readers. Your blog should have the information along with the pictures of yours so that users can know who has written the blog.

Font OrientationΒ

Ideally the body text of your blog should be left oriented, or justified one. I usually prefer justified one, you might have noticed the same on all my blogs. The worst thing is the center orientation, which can make your blog worst. But then you can also use it for poetry blogs.

Use of ColorsΒ

Don’t use so many colors on your blog. Try to make it 2-3 colored blogs only.

Image WidthΒ

Try to fix the width of your images; it should not merge with the sidebar of your blog. Did you notice the image size on my blogs, on I News India it normally lies in 550 X xxx pixels, while on Tech Acid it becomes 630 X xxx pixels.

Understand the width of the main content area of your blog and try to make image size accordingly, or opt for image resize plugins which can resize your images accordingly.

Responsive DesignΒ

Is your blog change its shape while it is being opened in some other sized device? Ideally it should change its shape when it is being opened on smartphone or tablet.

This is known as a responsive design, and it is crucial for the SEO of your website too. Also read the SEO benefits of responsive web design.

Am I done? Or left some important points? I guess it is a post in which you can never claim that you are done with everything.

Do let me know if these points are okay or not? Did you check that all the points are okay on your blog? Do let me know your response in the form of comments. Do also let me know if there are some important points which I might have missed mentioning over here.
