How to Become a Power Blogger While Using Free Blogs!
It is a fact that people won’t take you seriously if you are running a free blog, but then there are ways to become a well known blogger. Read on to know about how to develop your identity as blogger while using free blogs.
As you all know that I am a huge supporter of having self-hosted blogs only. But those who don’t prefer having self domain name and web hosting, and to manage them individually; for them I always suggest them to at least have their own domain name, and then they can integrate their WordPress (wordpress.com) or Blogger (blogspot.com) blog.
Although if you neither go with your own domain name (hosted by WordPress or Blogger hosting only) nor self hosted blog, then what are the options left with you?
See, I can truly understand that either you don’t want to invest anything on this hobby which lately will become your passion, or you might have less knowledge of technology, etc. and stay out of managing those things.
Undoubtedly, we don’t have any issue with whatever is the reason you don’t want to go with a self hosted blog, but to be very frank, free sub-domain blogs are not taken seriously by others. You yourself won’t prefer to click on a blah.blogspot.com or blah.wordpress.com; if you came through them in any search results. But then this cannot be true for all the time.
There are chances that a free blog can also become a great blog.
After all the success of a blog depends on the quality input being given by the blog owner. So let me guide you how you can convert your free blog into a super blog:
The first quality which any blog requires for being successful is having useful and unique content in it. You should always try to stand out from the crowd.
Ideally this is the most essential requirement of any business, or any person, or any blog, to become popular; but unfortunately we always try to copy-cat and become popular. Honestly copy-cat won’t make anyone successful in any field.
Honestly you can found millions of blogs throughout. How can you stand out from the crowd?
Honestly it is not an easy task. It is your hard work which can only make sure that if someone sees your blog at any place, they get excited about it and want to read it since it is yours blog.
Ideally people will subscribe to your blog if they found it really interesting. Though only number of subscriptions cannot be considered as a medium to measure success, but yes it is one of the most essential criteria too.
So the biggest question is that how can you make your blog stand out from the crowd?
Ideally it is the content which can make the differences. Try to make it more useful. Try to make it interesting. Try to make it unique. Don’t know how many people write on a single issue or thing only, but then they all must have some opinion which should be different than others, which can make the unique.
If you are not getting anything which can make your content as unique, try to read books about it, try to read different blogs on it and try to do research about it and then I am sure with your insight it will surely become unique.
Presentation of your content really matters a lot in blogging industry. Honestly it is not only true for blogging field, but for all the fields of our life. If you can present the things in a unique way, you have all the chance to become successful and popular.
Do you remember a few days back I asked a question in one of my blog, and that was after all why a dish of a five star restaurant looks more tempting than any other road-side hotel? Truly it is the presentation which makes it tempting.
Similarly in blogging, no matter if you are having a free domain name or a self hosted blog, it is the presentation style of yours which will make your content unique and tempting.
Thus it will prompt others to visit your blog in future as well, and who knows a special blog might attract them so much that they don’t think twice about clicking on your subscribe now button.
Now this is something which can always make a blogger successful.
If you really want to build a unique identity of yourself as a blogger, then you need to solve the problems which others are facing.
I guess you all do remember one of my blog posts on how to get success in IndiBlogger? Honestly I being a member of IndiBlogger faced these things so many times and I was also looking for a post which can guide me to get success over there. At least my post can show the path to others who seriously want to make their mark on IndiBlogger.
Similarly, if you really want to be a successful blogger than instead of blogging about craps thing, try your hand on solving problems which others are facing in your field, this way people will start liking you and your blog.
Length of content always matters behind the success of any blog.
Try not to limit your blog post into less than 600 words. If you are limiting the words, then you should fulfill it with graphics, images or videos, so that people can engage themselves with it.
With the updates like Penguin and Panda, Google restricted bloggers to come up with unique, informative and lengthy posts, but then if you want to be known as a well known blogger, then you should always come up with lengthy blog posts.
Regularity plays a very important role in the success of your blog. You should make a fixed schedule and do let your readers know about it. If you do publish on a daily basis then strictly remain with the schedule.
It should not be like that you are posting one post today and then forget about posting anything for a long-long time.
Google Authorship is something which can really make a difference. If you want others to consider your blog as a serious one and you as a serious blogger, then you must have this Google Authorship installed on your site.
This can make the real differences in the display of your links on SERP. If you want to know about how to get Google Authorship, then you should read this blog of mine: How to Get Google Authorship?
Professional design simply doesn’t mean anything, but it is a way through which you blog will look better to your readers. If you want that your blog should stand out, and then you will have to consider it seriously, you will have to give the best color combination, with font’s settings, font display, and also you will have to make sure that it should not break in any browser.
Also you need to make the designs responsive, but I am not sure if you can get this facility with free blogs or not. Now this is one of the main reasons why I don’t prefer for a free blogs. But yes, any user who is running the blog with those sites can comment the exact situation of responsive blog with those blogging platforms. Now this has nothing to take with the look and feel and presentation of your blog, but it can make your blog popular quickly. If your blog has all the above mentioned things, then it is always better to join blogging community like IndiBlogger (not like some cheap sites, which I mentioned over here) and start interacting with other bloggers.
Interaction, especially with other bloggers, really matters a lot in the success of any blog.

Nice one ALok.. Truly said, even I am quite reluctant to visit a site with .wordpress or .blogspot link appended, makes it look less serious. And I really like the second point, too many people complain anyway!!
Thanks a lot Vinay. I am really glad that you liked it. You said it right that .wordpress or .blogspot link doesn’t left the impression of serious blogging to us. Thanks for liking the post.

You should Maniparna. Basically if you are blogging then you should go with your own domain name and hosting, as you know you are giving all your efforts for your own site, rather than working for others website. After all when you work on blogspot.com or wordpress.com all your posts are actually benefiting them only.
BTW thanks for liking the post 🙂
An excellent article on an important topic. Each aspect is comprehensively covered. thanks to the author
