How to Make your Blog Readable?

How to make your blog readable? I can say that bringing visitors to your blog is not that difficult but to retain them to read your content is the biggest challenge. With an attractive title or headline you can easily compel anyone to click on your link and reach to your blog post, but then it is really hard to keep them from getting bored.

Is not it?

Two days back I published a blog post on top 5 blog designing tips, in which the second point was to produce readable content. Now readable content simply does not means the font size or paragraph gaps between your content. It also needs so many things to make your content readable to others.

How to Make your Blog Readable?

I am not saying that your blog is not readable. I just want to let you know how you can make it a bit more readable with following tips:

 Using Subheadings

Using subheading to make your content more impressive and readable is an art. If you can master this art, no one will be able to stop you to become a successful blogger. Believe me I am not saying writer over here, anyone can become a good writer, but when it comes to become a successful blogger, not everyone has this talent to become a good blogger.

Try to divide your content into sub-sections which can make it easier to understand and believe me your readers will simply enjoy reading it.

I guess you all have seen this technique in all my blogs. Also it will help you to use different heading tags like H1, H2, H3, etc. in your blog post. Thus helps you to get the SEO benefits as well.

There is another benefits associated with using subheadings in your content. Guess what?

There are some readers who don’t want to read the entire content written by anyone, they simply scan your entire content based on headings only. For them your subheadings matters a lot and forces them to go through the entire content.

 Short Paragraph

One thing is quite clear, if you write long and long paragraphs without breaking them into different sections, no one will give a damn look at your content. We normally hate those who write such long-long paragraphs, and don’t delay to get away from such posts.

Let me present you a scenario, in which I might write the same blog in a different way, like this:

Do let me know which one is being liked by you – the one which I am presenting in this example or the one which you were reading?

I guess you all will unanimously announce that the short paragraph and subheadings option is best. Although I am predicting your opinion, but if you are having any other opinion about it, then please don’t stop yourself to post a comment with your opinion. I would love to hear your opinion about it.

If your content will be cluttered in a single paragraph it won’t look attractive to your readers and they won’t prefer to stay more in your blog.

Plus if you divide the entire content into different subheadings, paragraphs, etc. it will also be easier on eyes, and will be loved by readers.

 Use of Graphics

Using of things like images, infographics, charts, slideshows, cartoons, videos, etc. will make your blog more attractive. Simply with the help of all those things you can make your blog a bit more readable.

You might question me that when I say this thing, why don’t I myself apply them on my own blog?

Lack of creativity is the main reason behind this. Believe me I am not a very good creative guy, especially when it comes to play with images and colors. I don’t have the senses of colors as well. And this is the main reason why I don’t use all of them in plenty on my blogs.

Although it is also a fact that I usually try to post a blog post with at least one image. The second reason why I don’t use those things on my blog is that you should always use things which you yourself can create. If you have a team developing all those materials for you, then it is okay, else simply sharing a picture is enough.

You can also use the works developed by someone else, but then don’t forget to provide the proper credit to the owner. Else it will become unethical.

 Using Proper Fonts

One of the most basic things which can help your blog to look more attractive and readable is the use of proper fonts. Use of proper fonts includes, but not limited to, using commonly available fonts, using proper font color, using proper background color, using proper font size.

All these things when combined in a proper way will make your blog quite readable and attractive.

 Use of Bullets

Use of lists and bullets can make your content further readable and attractive.

Undoubtedly you can add lists to put more spice on your content, and make it more appealing.

Let me give you an example. Here is a list of some of the benefits of making your blog posts more readable:

  • Enhance User Experience: I know you all know about the importance of enhancing the user experience as far as SEO is concerned.
  • Good Impression: With a readable content you can last a long lasting and good impression on your visitors.
  • Easy Navigation: It is a common fact that people want to quickly get the information which they are looking for, and these points will help them to grab the same easily.
  • Appealing Blog: No matter if you are an industry expert, but when it comes about presenting the things in a better way, if you are unable to do so, no one will ever consider you as an expert. So to present yourself as an authority or expert you need to make impressive and appealing blog.

Thus all these points will help you to present your content in a powerful manner.

So those were some of my takes on how to make your blog post readable to your visitors. I am quite sure there are some other points as well, which either I am not aware of or am missing in this blog post. If you have such points, then please don’t hesitate in sharing the same with us.
