I agree with all points but i think a beginner blogger will start from blogspot or wordpess,atleast you will know how much audience will love your post and improve your writing skills than buying a domain name would be worth it.

You are absolutely right Simran, for beginners blogspot or wordpress.com suits better as they don’t have to invest anything and can gain the experience of running a blog, but once you start getting some responses, you should migrate it to self hosted wordpress as it is the best blogging platform, as far as blogging is concerned. Those sound like great tips. 🙂 I’m still on #1, lol… cultivating patience instead of giving up on my blog when it’s in an infantile stage hardly attracting any viewers. Thanks for the post! I would like to add a point here on which I would like your views: when you talk about blogging platform and recommend people to get a unique domain name on WordPress, would you recommend WP dot org straightaway or WP dot com? I’ve got a WP dot com and I got myself a domain name, but after a few months of usage I feel restricted by WP dot com since I can’t do a lot of things – cannot have iframe or java pop-ups, cannot monetize easily, etc. Most solutions that I seek on the internet come in the form of plugins which can only be installed if your host is WP dot org.

Hey Ami, Patience is the key especially when you talk about blogging. Blogging need much patience.
I always ask for WP.org as that is the best one and as you said that you are feeling restricted with WP.com and self domain name, it is really true that if you want to enjoy blogging to the fullest you must need the freedom, like you can get from WP.org only. You are absolutely correct with regards to plugins as well.
