Festival of Colors Holi in Present Scenario!
Hey folks, the festival of Colors “Holi” are round the corner and today I will share the most memorable holi of my life. It was the year 1989 when I was a 7 or 8 year old child and we were living in the Navodaya Vidyalaya of the Godda district of Bihar (now in Jharkhand), when I played the most memorable holi of my life.
My father is a Mathematics teacher and he was on deputation for two years to the Navodaya Vidyalaya, a central government school. The specialty of that holi was that there were teachers from different parts of India in that school, and thus the families of different cultures were there in the campus. Also so many students (boys and girls) were there.
We started playing holi from early morning and we almost went to each quarter of the school and played holi with each other. It was the best memorable holi which I played in my life. The reason behind it was my last memorable holi is that today the meaning of the festival of colors has changed completely. Lot’s of vulgarity and un-necessary elements are merged into this beautiful festival. The meaning of holi these days is to use liquor and do all kind of vulgar act.
There was a time when girls and females were waiting for this festival and now they use to hate this festival too. But let me tell you something interesting about the festival of colors from the eyes of present scenario in India.
My color sense is really bad and I really don’t be able to differentiate between the colors, but there are a few colors which are spoiling the festival of colors in our life. Here are a few of them:
1> Color of Terrorism: This is something which is really bad for mankind and there are only a few countries in this universe which has not met with this color. In my views the color of terrorism is red, the blood of the innocent people, which spoiled the holi of our life. Any big occasion brings the danger of terrorism and it seems that life has changed. It was not there a few years back, but now it’s on all time high.
2> Color of Corruption: This is the color which has spoiled the festival of colors throughout the India. Many IAS officers, IPS officers, and central government employees along with state government employees are involved in this color. This has almost spoiled the festival of colors of ours.
3> Color of Inflation: During last one year this color has spoiled all the colors of our life, and the credit will be given to the politicians of India. Prices of all the necessary commodities have jumped to the sky level and the government of India is not at all serious about this problem. If you ask any common people that how will you celebrate this holi he will surely reply that what holi? This inflation has changed the way how we celebrate the festivals.
So in my views these are a few colors which are actually spoiling the color of the festivals in India. How can we play the festivals of colors when around 80% of Indians are unable to think about it too?
well said, india is decked with corruption…untill and unless these issues are not solved, the country as a whole cannot grow
The article throws lights on some of the burning issues of our country…these issues altogether are like an threat to the mankind..
Rather thought provoking, Makes me see red everywhere in fact. Festivals have always been about the thought and prayer, not what they have been turned into now.
Thanks Sabeeha for your comment, you said it absolutely right that “Festivals have always been about the thought and prayer, not what they have been turned into now”. Thank you for your support and Happy Holi…
