Planning for any travel gives stress as well as excitement. But if some general precautions are followed while going for a travel it can be a relaxed and a safe journey. Some of them are as follows:
- Do not publicize your travel: Make sure only few people near your residence knows about your travel schedule. Only limited people should know where to contact you in emergencies or is authorized to make critical decisions regarding your residence in your absence.
- Passport and Visa: Before going to any place ensure that your passport, if needed, is ready and valid. Also Your Visa should be appropriate for the place and should not be out of date. Leave a copy of both at home also.
- License: Carry your driving license with a photograph while leaving. Leave a copy at home also.
- Medical documents: Carry a list of blood type, allergies, or any special medical conditions about you and your family. Unluckily if some mishappening occurs then they can be used to get frequent medical help.
- Luggage: Make sure your luggage is tagged from both sides, inside and out. Keep it ready before a day to avoid last minute rash. During travel, never leave your bags unattended anywhere to avoid theft. Locks on luggage are not secure. Consider using nylon filament strip tape around your suitcase. Avoid placing valuables in your checked luggage. Avoid wearing heavy jewelleries during travel. Go for casual wears while travel to avoid attention.
- After checking: After checking in your luggage go directly to the gate or secure area. Waiting rooms or shopping areas should be avoided. Be alert at security checkpoints. Don’t place belongings on conveyor until you can keep an eye on items being screened.
- Insurance papers: Check with your medical insurance carrier about coverage away from your home and work. Know coverage protection for out-of-country travel. Have your luggage insured. Take out appropriate travel insurance to cover hospital treatment, medical evacuation and any activities.
- Advance reservation of hotel: Make your own hotel reservations in advance to avoid stress after reaching the place. If going to some relative’s residence, inform them about your reaching time.
- Carry credit cards: If possible travel with only one or two credit cards and avoid taking big cash.
- Gather information: Gather all the required information of the place you are going to. There are sites visitors can explore to learn more about their destination. Check to see what type of weather the area has so you can plan accordingly. Also have some knowledge about food available there.
- Check your cell phone: If your cell phone does not work outside your home town, consider renting one that does for the duration of your trip.
- Children: if traveling with children, carry some food and snacks while going. Have some water with you for them.
- Be alert from stranger: Don’t accept any food or drinks from strangers. Keep an eye on your surrounding people. There can be some fraud around you.
- Carry flashlight: Bring a small flashlight with you. It may be needed when you’ll suddenly be in the dark and find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings.
These few tips if followed can make your journey memorable and you can have maximum enjoy in your travel.
