With the world becoming more hectic and busy, people have finally awoken and are trying to make up for the health loss. But there are so many people telling us different things about health and all of them clash. So people end up getting confused and ultimately don’t know what to believe. So here are a few health myths and truth about them for you:
Myth: Vasectomy is a painful procedure and affects a person’s sex life adversely.
Truth: According to the Marie Stopes charity, vasectomy takes only a few minutes to be done and is relatively simple and painless procedure.
Myth: Acne happens because the area is not washed properly.
Truth: Acne happens because of hormonal imbalance or stress. That is why teenagers are most affected by it. In fact, washing the area again and again can cause more acne as the body replenishes the oil washed away.
Myth: Depressed people just need to relax and chill, they’ll be fine.
Truth: Depression is an illness caused due to imbalance in brain chemicals. It is an illness and people can’t get out of it just by relaxing and feeling nice. Proper medication and counseling is required.
Myth: A lump in your breast means you have breast cancer.
Truth: Almost 80% of lumps in breast are non cancerous. Though, even in this case it is very important to consult a doctor.
Myth: Cholesterol is bad for health.
Truth: We all require cholesterol as they build cells and make vital hormones. Though, there are good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. Saturated fats in foods like meat, butter, cream etc tend to raise bad cholesterols. Good cholesterols are increase by unsaturated fats, like in nuts and fish.
Myth: Bananas are fattening.
Truth: Bananas are actually low in fat and have only about 90 calories. They are home for potassium and also they give instant energy by raising blood sugar levels.
