Choose Safe People and Safe place for Dating!
Dating can be fun only if it’s with the right person and at the right place. Always make sure that you are with a safe person while dating.
Here are some ways that can help you recognize a date as a safe person.
1> A safe person will respect your boundaries: If a person is considerate towards your needs and expectations then it is passable to date such a person. An unsafe person would not pay heed to your feelings and it would be unwise to get into such a relationship.
2> A safe person will not treat you like a child: You may want to reconsider your decision of dating a person who treats you like a child. Healthy relationships are characterized by people who relate as equal adults.
See if you recognize these other characteristics of an unsafe date:
- Gives advice without seeking it
- Distrusts your judgment
- Is critical
- Is convinced that you need help navigating life
- Disapproves of you
- Withdraws when you make adult decisions with which he disagrees
3> A safe person will forgive you, not condemn you: You have to make sure that the person you are dating is sensible enough to handle arguments or conflicts maturely. If he keeps condemning you for everything, that means he has a penchant for holding grudges. You might want to stay away from such people.
4> A safe person is responsible: An irresponsible and reckless date can drain you out emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Love can only bloom where there is empathy, trust and maturity. So it’s very essential that we take extra caution in choosing whom we spend our time with.
As important as it is to be with a safe person, equally important is the place where you go for the date. The place should be such that both of you can have fun and enjoy each other’s company. By taking a few moments to assess a location in advance, you can spend the rest of the time worrying about having a good time.
Try to select a place where there are a lot of people around. It might not sound like a very intimate place but it sure is the safest. You can always shift to a relatively less crowded place once you are sure that you are comfortable with your date. Bars, restaurants, Cinema halls, nightclubs etc are some of the safe public places.
Outdoor places like a park, zoo, outdoor ice ring etc are safer than remote or secluded ones. You might want to avoid meeting at home for the first time as it might get uncomfortable for your date to feel free in the confines of your house.
Another safe option is to have a group date. If you want to avoid crowded places, you can opt for a double date with another set of friends. This way you can have an intimate conversation with your date with the security of knowing that you have a friend there to help you. Or you could go to a house party where there are plenty of people nearby by, but it will probably be easy to find a space for some alone time.
